August Blogger of the Month - Ronnie

20 comments:

Hi everyone! Welcome to the first installment of my blogger of the month series. Each month I will be recognizing and featuring someone who I believe to be a true talent in the beauty blogging world and displaying their work for you guys to see. I have included an interview as well as a gallery of their best work and commissioned an exclusive look for the monthly 'Pigments & Palettes Challenge'. The first blogger I've decided to feature is:

Ronnie's eye looks are some of the best that I've seen and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little envious of her incredible skill. I had a really difficult time selecting my favorite looks of hers because there were so many phenomenal looks to choose from. Her work has been recognized on Makeupbee.com and Beautylish and I imagine that you will continue to see her handiwork all over the web for a long time to come, and probably on some famous faces in the future, she's that good.  If you're already following her, congrats on your impeccable taste and if you're not a follower then I imagine you will be by the end of this post. Keep reading to check it all out!

THE INTERVIEW
Getting to Know You: The Beauty Behind the Blog

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging mainly for fun. Then I thought I could use it to be kind of like an online portfolio and show my passion with the world. I love to blog, and seeing all the positive feedback just makes it so much more enjoyable! You all make me want to keep going!

What does your blog name mean, and how did you come up with it?
I had such a hard time coming up with a name, until one day I was browsing some MAC eyeshadows and came across the limited edition "Bows and Curtseys" from the Fashion Flower collection. Not only is it a gorgeous shade, but the name is just oh so cute!

What are the three most important things for people to know about you?
1. I am an absolute animal lover. I've always had some sort of pet my entire life, and I have been known to save all kinds of animals (bugs, lizards, anything!) and I adopted my best friend, Neeko (husky/lab mix) about a year and a half ago.

2. I have zero tolerance for discrimination; especially racism and homophobia. It's just plain ignorant and narrow minded.

3. I can be over-emotional. Sometimes it's a good thing, other times it holds me back. But it makes me who I am, and I believe that it can bring out the best in me.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was a goth/punk/rocker whatever-you-want-to-call-it in high school! I dressed in all black, extremely heavy liner (a la Taylor Momsen), listen to all the hardcore tunes, the whole nine yards. I was a freak, and I loved it! I still have some of those characteristics with me....I don't like to look boring or plain.

Ronnie's 'Rock Star' eyes
Describe your beauty philosophy in a six word sentence
Beauty is what you make it.

What would you say is your signature look?
My signature look is one that I have worn for many years. Smoked out black liner, with a light shimmery taupe wash all over my lids up to the crease. Depending on my mood, I also wear a pink lipstick. To transition into night-time, I just add a black shadow to my outer-v and thicken the liner.

My favorite look! Katniss/Hunger Games inspired
Who or what serves as your biggest source of inspiration & why?
I don't really take inspiration from a specific person or item, I just really go with what I feel, and my surroundings on that given day. I take inspiration from everything and everyone around me.

What is the skill you're most proud of and what skill would you like to improve on?

Well, there is always room for improvement, but I would have to say my blending is my best skill. I'd like to improve on my skin regimen!

"Gluttony" look from Seven Deadly Sins Series
What was the first look you did and what do you think of it now?
The first look I posted on my blog was a gold and blue look. I still like it, but if I could change one thing about it, it would be to use a lighter, less intense blue.

What's one question you want to ask to next month's beauty blogger?
Who is your celebrity crush? (Mine is Bradley Cooper at the moment!)

FIVE FAST FAVORITES

1. Favorite beauty blog/website?
Well, besides Pigments and Palettes of course (<3), I really enjoy Bellasugar, Kassie's blog at Unique-Desire, Beautylish, Makeupbee, and MakeupFTW on tumblr.

2. Favorite kind of post to read and/or write?
I definitely like to read posts that aren't robotic. I like a sense of humor and fun posts with lots of vivid and detailed pictures. I like to do the same with my own blog.

3. Favorite type of makeup to wear, if you could only choose one?
AHH, this is liking asking someone who their favorite child is! But I absolutely HAD to pick just one, it would be black eyeliner.
4. Favorite look that you've ever done?
Hands down, Sloth from my Seven Deadly Sins Series. I really impressed myself!

5. Favorite song to dance to when nobody's watching?
-Low, by Flo Rida! (Helloooo, guilty pleasure!)
