Welcome to the November installment of my blogger of the month series. Each month I will be recognizing and featuring someone who I believe to be a true talent in the beauty blogging world by displaying their work for you guys to see. I have included a interview as well as a gallery of their best work for the feature. And as a special treat, I commissioned an exclusive look for the monthly 'Pigments & Palettes Challenge'. The next blogger I've decided to feature is:

Marla contacted me when I very first started this feature and asked if she could be one of my Bloggers of the Month. Well, I'm certainly glad she did because it was the first time that I got a chance to look at her work and I was so impressed. Marla has a unique style and amazing abilities with eyeliner. Her blog has a variety of posts to read so there's always something new to look at. I especially love her Barbie inspired series that shes doing. Read on to get to know Marla better!

THE INTERVIEW
Getting to Know You: The Beauty Behind the Blog

Why did you start blogging?
When I was thirteen I discovered MakeupGeek, and I fell in love. As time went by and I was introduced to more and more bloggers & gurus I started thinking... “Hey I can do this too!” I am so happy I made my decision to start blogging because it really feels good to share my tips, thoughts, and creativity with the world.

What does your blog name mean, and how did you come up with it?
I wish that I would have been a bit more creative when I thought of my blog name... maybe one day i’ll change it but until I become a little more known I think I am going to stick with it so people know my name ;) lol ..

What are the three most important things for people to know about you?
1. I am very focused & determined.
2. I tend to do my own thing.
3. My mother is the most important person to me.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I think people would be surprised to know that I have type 1 diabetes, it is something I have blogged about before and something that you can’t tell by looking at someone. I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago and I encourage any of you to reach out to me if you have any questions about it. :)

Describe your beauty philosophy in a six word sentence
The key to beauty is confidence.

What would you say you're most known for in the beauty blogging world?
I think that to my readers I am most known for my liquid liner skills ha ha, I have practiced many hours in front of the mirror and now it just comes naturally. . . almost like breathing :)

If you could design a makeup look for anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I would definitely want to do a look for Linda Evangelista, she is so timeless and beautiful and I think that she is definitely a cosmetic chameleon.

What's your biggest personal achievement to date (blogging or otherwise)?
My biggest personal achievement regarding my life was learning to accept my flaws. I would always try to be accepted by other and mold myself into what they needed or expected, but now I know that for other people something will always be wrong. I learned that being content with who you are and being proud of what you can achieve is more important.

What was the first look you did and what do you think of it now?
I first look I ever did on myself when I really got into makeup was a look that MakeupGeek, it was inspired by a flower (can’t remember the name). It was a purple look with a pop of yellow and I remember wearing it tons of times! I think it is a lovely dramatic look.

What's one question you want to ask to next month's beauty blogger?
What is one particular beauty era that you think reflects you the most?

What's your biggest blogging pet peeve? - Maryam, October
My biggest blogging pet peeve concerning other people’s blogs is when they copy someone else’s information, I have fallen victim to this, and I feel it is the number one NO NO rule in the blogging world.

FIVE FAST FAVORITES

1. Favorite beauty blog/website?
My favorite beauty website would have to be MakeupGeek, Marlena has always been such a good makeup artist!

2. What's your favorite source of inspiration?
I have been looking mostly to magazines for inspiration such as TeenVogue, Elle, Vanidades (spanish), and Glamour... after I read them I tear out the pages and put them into my “Beauty Binder”.

3. Favorite type of makeup to wear, if you could only choose one?
My favorite thing would have to be my moisturizer, perfect makeup starts with perfect skin. :)

4. Favorite look that you've ever done?
My favorite look has to be my creative nights look. It was so out of the blue (no pun intended) and so bold. I love how the liner looked!

5. Favorite song to dance to when nobody's watching?
Ha ha, this is also a tough one...but hands down probably Cee Lo Green’s Forget You

THE PALETTE CHALLENGE

So, this past weekend I was invited to a bird themed birthday party, a Birdday Party if you will. While I was obviously excited for the treats and dancing and friends, I was equally excited because it meant LOTS OF BIRD MAKEUP! I ended up doing four looks that night over the course of a few hours and it ranged from basic to totally over the top. I just had to share with you guys, so enjoy! I apologize that the pictures aren't better quality...

The first look I did was for the birdday girl herself, Sara. She was going as an owl so she requested a brown & gold dark smokey look to emulate the coloring of an owl. We also painted the tip of her nose yellow as her beak and she completed the look with an amazing homemade costume.

Bone structure like WOAH
My good buddy Zaz decided to go as a red bird and she wanted a red & gold look so I stuck with something fairly simple in the interest of time. A winged out look was just the thing.

Finally, my proudest creation, Paula the Peacock. I've been hounding her to let me do this for the longest time and she finally let me. I think it turned out awesome and would be an incredible concept for a Halloween costume next year!

I decided to go as the twitter bird but I didn't manage to get any decent close up shots so a group picture will have to do. Happy Birdday, y'all!
