January Blogger of the Month - Sahily

8 comments:

Welcome to the January 2012 installment of my blogger of the month series. Each month I will be recognizing and featuring someone who I believe to be a true talent in the beauty blogging world. For this monthly feature I have included an interview as well as a gallery of their best work. And, as a special treat, I have commissioned an exclusive look for the monthly 'Pigments & Palettes Challenge'. The next blogger I've decided to feature is:

I contacted Sahily a while back after seeing her stunning avian inspired macaw look. Besides her incredible avian series, I also love her more recent Sanrio series which you should definitely check out if you grew up with those awesome anime characters like I did. Sahily does everything from day looks to full SFX makeup and she's always hosting generous giveaways and contests. I hope you enjoy the interview and will love Sahily's work as much as I do.

THE INTERVIEW
Getting to Know You: The Beauty Behind the Blog

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I enjoy writing and it’s a fun way to share my passion for makeup with others.

What does your blog name mean, and how did you come up with it?
My blog name means pretty in color. I was inspired by the movie “Pretty in Pink” when I came up with the name for my blog.

What are the three most important things for people to know about you?
1. I’m a jack of multiple artistic trades! I am a freelance makeup artist, blogger, face painter, social media specialist, and I even make my own jewelry and accessories! Lol.
2. I live for fashion.
3. I love music <3

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m really scared of chicken bones, it’s strange, I know.

Describe your beauty philosophy in a six word sentence
Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful.

What would you say you're most known for in the beauty blogging world?
I’m going to go with my creative looks.

If you could design a makeup look for anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I would like to create the makeup looks for Betsey Johnsons fashion show during New York Fashion Week. I love her crazy, yet girly looks and think I could create some great looks to go with her line.

What's your biggest personal achievement to date (blogging or otherwise)?
I was recently recognized in the Newspaper for my makeup artistry skills and blogging. It feels good to get public recognition as an artist.

What was the first look you did and what do you think of it now?
The first look I created when I started blogging was a flamingo inspired look. At the time I thought it was amazing. I still like the look, but if I were to recreate it, I would use different products.

What's one question you want to ask to next month's beauty blogger?
What was the very first makeup product you ever purchased?

Do you follow beauty trends or march to the beat of your own drum? - Dawnielle, December
Both, I love trends, but I like to mix them with my own personal style.

FIVE FAST FAVORITES

1. Favorite beauty blog/website?

I love Tanja and her crazy, creepy yet beautiful looks!
www.roseshock.blogspot.com

2. What's your favorite source of inspiration?
Anything that inspires me.

3. Favorite thing in your kit (if you could only choose one!):
MAC Feline eyeliner. I have never found another liner that even
compares to how dark and long lasting this liner is.

4. Favorite look that you've ever done?
I love guts and gore, so I’m going to go with the “unzipped” look I created for my Halloween series. I was inspired by “superficial” people. I tried to represent that no matter what material things you own or how beautiful you are on the outside, we all look the same on the inside.

5. Favorite song to dance to when nobody's watching?
You’re going to laugh…but here it goes Whitney Houston - I wanna dance with somebody
